your animation towards the start could use a little work, it was a little jumpy but it was deffinately worth it for when Chiton says "I Know that" at the start and When Scythe sais "She's dead... I DID IT!"

And that was a great idea for the dress up a metroid thing during the loading screen. Small file and very entertaining for the 15 seconds it took to load the video

"Simpler was Better"

I don't know about how you added all the powerups, keys and features because for me the draw of the first game was that it was so unbelievably simple that you wouldn't have thought that it could be that hard. But it was. So you had to master the simplicity just to get halfway through the game which was really fun but the extra features just made it another typical little puzzle game.
